First World War Silk Postcard
c. 1915Postcard with embossed border on front with embroidered silk envelope inserted into border. Silk decorated with purple and pink flowers. Inscribed with blue stitching the words “I LOVE YOU”. Inside ‘envelope’ is small card with “I’m thinking of you” printed in blue and a colourful print in top left-hand corner of a woman surrounded by many flags.
Embroidered silk postcard made in France during the First World War to send home from the military front to family as a means of keeping in touch.
