In 1918 the memorial plaque was designed to commemorate the death of a loved one during war or after where their death was due to war injuries. Plaques were sent to the next of kin, and were also referred to as the Death Plaque or Dead Man’s Penny.

Embossed on front around edge – “HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR” and in middle, “ERNEST CHARLES GORDON SCOTT”
Ernest Charles Gordon SCOTT enlisted on 28/10/1914 at rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was stationed with 10th Light Horse Regiment, B Squadron. He was wounded at Gallipoli and died of his wounds on the 19/07/1915.
