The Neville Pratt Medal (formerly the President's Medal 1952-2000) is awarded to the fairest and best baseball player in the Western Australian state baseball league. The award is named after Western Australian Neville Pratt, a 2021 inductee into the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame and the Baseball WA Hall of Fame. On the field he was a talented player who represented both his state and country with class and distinction. Neville was a member of the Western Australian Claxton Shield team on eight occasions and also represented Australia, most famously, at the 1956 Olympics exhibition game in Melbourne. Off the field, Neville was a critical driver of Australia’s participation in international baseball, and an early advocate in understanding the importance of Australia’s engagement with the Asian region to achieve its international aspirations. After serving more than a decade on the Australian Baseball Council, he held the position of Australian Baseball Federation president from 1987-1998.
