SMOCKING, DRESS, CHILD

Overview

This child's smocked dress was bought at a Department store in Perth in 1945 for the donor. These dresses were sewn by local professional dressmakers.
Made of white crepe-de-chine it has a scalloped hem with a crochet fan shape at the base of the scallop. The edge of the sleeves and neckline is also crocheted.
Six rows of smocking back and front forms a diamond with pink rosebuds scattered. There is an additional pink spray at the neck and on the skirt.
