GENERAL EMBROIDERY,WAISTCOAT

Overview

This lady's waistcoat, worn by the donor in Western Australia in the 1990s, is embroidered all over with small cross stitches in autumn shades. The overall design has been cleverly and carefuly planned. Using the same colour scheme, 4 different geometric patterns have been used in panels to create an interesting and attractive garment. Less obvious are the tiny shi sha mirrors in the centre of the blue diamonds on the front panels. At the back waist, two small pleats held in place with round maroon buttons, 80 mm from edge and stitched down at edge.
