WHITE WORK, NIGHTWEAR
1915This nightgown and 2018.10 were part of a war widow's trousseau, whose husband served and died overseas. Bodice is lace insertion. Square necked bodice has strips of 5 different insertion laces. Centre front is a triangle insert. At the front, below the waist, are a series of tiny pintucks.
Rest of garment plain cotton. Sleeves have 6 bands of lace, 3 different varieties and 3 rows of pintucks. Wider pintucks on the back 130mm across.
