First World War Black and White Photograph of Mounted Light Horsemen at Oasis

1916 - 1918
Overview

A small black and white photograph showing a large group of mounted Light Horsemen riding into an oasis in the desert. The photograph is taken from a distance so the troops are difficult to distinguish, however the extent of the oasis can be seen with a large stretch of sand in the foreground. The photograph has a small border and is in good condition. The reverse has number 2 written in the top right corner.

Historical information

Oases were very important to the Light Horse Regiments as they offered places to rest and water the horses, concealment from hostile aircraft and gave good shade.
