Landscape painting depicting an open rural scene. The foreground contains dry golden-brown grasses and several weathered timber fence posts positioned irregularly along the lower edge of the composition. Beyond the foreground is a broad pale yellow grassland extending across the middle ground. A mature tree with a dark brown trunk and spreading branches occupies the centre of the composition. Smaller trees with sparse foliage are positioned to the left and right of the central tree. In the background, a range of blue-purple hills or mountains stretches across the horizon. Above, the sky is rendered in soft shades of blue, lavender and white with diffuse cloud formations. The painting is executed in loose, atmospheric brushstrokes with blended colours and soft edges typical of a watercolour landscape. Dominant colours include pale yellow, ochre, brown, blue, purple and white
