Painting depicting several grass trees (Xanthorrhoea) growing on a gently sloping grassy landscape. The composition is arranged vertically and features seven grass trees of varying sizes positioned across the foreground, middle ground and background. Three larger specimens occupy the centre-right of the image, each consisting of dense spherical crowns of radiating dark green leaves atop dark brown to black trunks. Several slender flowering spikes extend vertically above the leaf crowns.
The foreground contains additional smaller grass trees emerging from the lower left and lower right corners of the composition. A narrow pale brown pathway curves through the centre of the scene, leading from the foreground toward the cluster of larger trees. Small grey rocks are scattered across the grassy ground.
The landscape is rendered in shades of green, yellow-green and olive, with soft transitions of light and shadow across the grassy surface. The background consists of an atmospheric blurred field of green, yellow and cream tones, creating a bokeh-like effect that suggests vegetation beyond the focal area. Light appears to fall from above, illuminating the foliage and producing highlighted areas on the crowns of the grass trees.
The artwork is executed in a realistic style with detailed rendering of the fine leaf structures and flower spikes. Dominant colours include green, yellow-green, olive, cream, brown, black and grey.
