SAUCEPAN, LID - T & C CLARK & C/K/RD 8 QUARTS
c. 1890 - 1910Round, domed pressed sheet metal with a sealing lip slightly smaller than the major diameter and has a rectangular metal handle middle top.
This cooking pot was manufactured by T & C Clark & Company in England and was use by either the Buckingham family in the 1800s and early 1900s or the Gilmore family up to the 1930s.
The Buckingham family arrived in Western Australia in 1850 aboard the sailing ship Sophia. After time spent in the Bullsbrook area the family moved to the Kelmscott area in 1861 after purchasing a property called ‘Roleystone’ in 1857. Despite a number of tough years spent clearing the land and loosing cattle to poisonous plants the family soon be came established and help to drive the creation of the communities of Kelmscott and Roleystone over the next 100 years.
The pot may have also been used by the Gilmore family who in the 1920s and 30s owned a guest house in Roleystone. It may have been used in the kitchen to
T & C Clark & Company was started the cast iron foundry 1795 by Thomas and Charles Clark and grew into one of the largest iron foundries in the Wolverhampton area producing a large range of domestic, agricultural and industrial equipment.
