SAUCEPAN - T & C CLARK & C/K/RD 8 QUARTS

Overview

Brownish-grey, cast iron saucepan, barrel shaped pan with a distinct casting line around it's circumference. It has two handles diagonally opposite one another, one is a long, fluted, tapering cylinder, the smallest diameter where it joins the pan. The other handle is cast iron and is a hollow oval and attached to the boss by two metal threads.
Text is cast into the base and there is raised lettering on the side of the pan denoting its capacity, there is also text on a disc in the end of the handle and text either side of the handle boss.
There is the company Trade Mark of a six point star with the letter ''C'' in the centre on the small oval handle.

Historical information

This cooking pot was manufactured by T & C Clark & Company in England and was use by either the Buckingham family in the 1800s and early 1900s or the Gilmore family up to the 1930s.
The Buckingham family arrived in Western Australia in 1850 aboard the sailing ship Sophia. After time spent in the Bullsbrook area the family moved to the Kelmscott area in 1861 after purchasing a property called ‘Roleystone’ in 1857. Despite a number of tough years spent clearing the land and loosing cattle to poisonous plants the family soon be came established and help to drive the creation of the communities of Kelmscott and Roleystone over the next 100 years.
T & C Clark & Company was started the cast iron foundry 1795 by Thomas and Charles Clark and grew into one of the largest iron foundries in the Wolverhampton area producing a large range of domestic, agricultural and industrial equipment.
