Historical information

The Roleystone Hall was built along the Brookton Highway in 1922,with the progress association raising funds with, Ugly Men and Popular Girls contests among others. Since 1933 the hall has been the home of the Roleystone Theatre, a very active and well regarded community armature theatrical group
In 2018 following a structural review of the building it was discovered the building had a number of issues, including loose asbestos making it unsafe to use, especially when there was a strong easterly wind. The local community feared that the City of Armadale who owned the building would demolish the structure rather than spend the money to make the building safe for use. The 'Save Roleystone Theatre' campaign was started and sold badges and shirts to raise money to help with the campaign. Thousands of signatures were also collected supporting the saving of the building.
In December 2018 the City of Armadale committed itself to the reopening of the Roleystone Theatre building and started work on making it safe once again as well as modernizing many of its amenities. The building is due for reopening in 2022.
