Historical information

In 1969 the C.W.A in Western Australia ran a Nursery Rhyme exhibition competition. The Kelmscott branch of the CWA took second prize in the competition and were awarded this trophy.

Statement of significance

HIGH
Presented to the Kelmscott Branch for being runners up in a nursery rhyme competition in 1969. The trophy represents the skills of the members of the branch in creating an exhibition based around a nursery rhyme.
The trophy represents and tells the story of a key community social organisation that was all about women, run by women for women. The organisation played an important role in the social lives of a number of Kelmscott women and promoted the learning of new skills and the sharing and exhibiting of their key domestic and artistic skills.
