Photograph consists of 18 sitting in two rows outside in front of a building. The children wearing yellow and black football jumpers. The child in the middle of the front row is holding a red Australian Rules Football.

Two eyelet screws are in the back of frame with hanging cord between them.

Historical information

Karragullen Primary School started in 1891 by the Canning Sawmill for the children of its employees. In 1913 the state school was opened at Illawarra Orchard. In 1920 the school was moved to Brookton Highway to be closer to where families were establishing new orchards.

Due to falling student numbers the school was closed at the end of 1999. After the closure children in the area would attend schools in Roleystone.
