ATKINSON, JOHN AT COUNCIL DEPOT
B/W Print. John Atkinson, in working clothes consisting of dark trousers and jacket, striped shirt, boots and felt hat, is standing with one hand on a petrol bowser. Behind him, partly obscured, is a dog, picket fence, sign [SHOW] and trees.
Born in Freshwater Bay, son of Pensioner Guard John and Anne Atkinson. Married Emma Mary Janes (b.1870) on 24.4.1891 at Chittering. Sons David was born c1898 and Albert in c1893. Lived at Bindoon & Butler's Swamp and worked as a labourer. Was in charge of Claremont Council's horses until his retirement and council's mechanisation in 1920s.
