WWII era Air Force sweetheart brooch engraved to 'Mother'

Overview

World War Two era, Air Force cast metal sweetheart brooch. It features an eagle with wings outstretched flying towards the viewer, head turned to the right side (or the left for the eagle), surmounted by a King's Crown.
A flat piece of curved metal is attached to the tail feathers and has been engraved with the word 'MOTHER' in upper case letters.
The reverse is plain and it has a pin clasp for primary attachment and a safety pin joined to it by a chain to prevent loss. The safety pin is broken and missing a piece.
There is no maker's mark.

Historical information

This sweetheart brooch is one of many produced and sold to servicemen to give to their loved ones during wartime.
Given that the eagle motif applies to all Commonwealth Air Forces, it is not possible to say if it was made specifically for the Royal Air Force, Royal Australian Air Force, Royal New Zealand Air Force or Royal Canadian Air Force.
