Store order from John Ayscough
c. 1865hand-written note on back of a taupe envelope
John Ayscough (1812-82) was convicted in 1852 of raping his own daughter and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was sent to WA on Runnymede in 1856 (convict no.4164). By the 1860's he was farming at Greenough where he married Eliza Ainsworth. Ayscough died in the Fremantle Lunatic Asylum.

This is one of only two notes written by Ayscough held in the Maley Mill & Store Archives. The use of an envelope as a note suggests there was at times a shortage of paper at Greenough.
