Brass Buttons - WW2 Military Uniform

Overview

There are 5 small (1.5cm diameter) brass buttons, and 5 large (2.0 cm diameter) brass buttons.
On the front is a raised map of Australia with a crown above it.
On the back is a shank with a brass bobby pin.

Historical information

These buttons were used on the service men's uniforms during service in WW2.
They would have been removed for polishing when the uniform was sent for cleaning.
These larger buttons would have been worn on the front of the jacket.
There would have been a small hole in the jacket which the button shank fitted through,
and a small bobby pin inserted through the eye of the shank to keep secure to uniform
