Historical information

HIstorically, an interesting item because the manufacturer, Roebuck & Sons were the first manufacturers of Rocking Horses and Fairground Horses Australia. Started by Frederick Roebuck in 1880 in Alice St, Newtown, Melbourne moving in 1900 to the address in Leichhardt, NSW. At one stage post war they were manufacturing 2,800 rocking horses per year.

Killerby's Stores were among the first and definitely the largest grocery stores in the area with stores in Busselton and Cowaramup. In 1970 on retirement of Mr Kemp Killerby, the store was split into several areas: Hardware was taken over by his nephew, Mr Rob Breeden and his wife Crystal: the service station was taken over by another nephew, Mr Dick Pearce and the Grocery Store by his son Gerry. Whether the horse had belonged to Gerry's children has yet to be ascertained
