Historical information

The writer, Octavius Ryland (1800-86) was an expiree and school teacher at Greenough.
Thomas Batcock (1824-1910) was convicted of robbery with violence and sent to Western Australia in 1861 (no.5685). He worked for numerous masters at Greenough.
