LACE, BOBBIN, BAG
Making beaded amulets by hand was a popular handcraft / leisure activity in the 1990s in Western Australia.
A Guild lace maker made this unusual bobbin lace amulet in early 2000s. Lined with silk, it has a twisted cord handle and a chain stitch crochet fringe.
Throughout history, amulets have played a significant role in many cultures, religions and belief systems, used to protect against evil, bring good luck, and offer a sense of power and status.
