KNITTING, BAG
Misers’ purses, with unusual shape and function, were popular in Europe for 150 years, mid 19th C to around 1910s.
The yellow hand knitted purse, tubular in shape, is closed at both ends, has a slit in the middle and a gilt metal ring for closing. A gold coloured metal bead and tassel at each end.
Misers purses were used by both men and women to keep coins and usually hung from the belt.
