Contextual Information

Bowl was donated from the Estate of Rupert & Catherine Monger who was the grandson of John Bavage Locke of Lockeville.

Rupert Monger was the son of Ella Maria Ghita Monger (Locke) (1864 - 1946) and Francis Henry Monger (1860 - 1894) who married on 12 Dec 1885 in St Mary's Church Busselton.

Ella (Ghita) was the daughter of John Bavage Locke and Mary Bayliss (Layman) Locke of Lockeville in Wonnerup, a substantial property settled in the 1840's. The bowl is from the Estate of Rupert and Ella(Ghita) and the age of the bowl suggests the possibilty that it may have originally been a wedding gift for the couple.
