A small plastic female figurine, painted with light green body and hair ,red apron and black neck tie. Figurine has a white cap on head that is perforated with five small holes for sprinkling water .
The Aqua 50's Merry Maid clothes sprinkler ironing figurine was invented in the 1950's.

The Merry Maid was filled with water and then sprinkled over your laundry to create a fine mist as you were ironing . It would steam your clothes and get the wrinkles out. This one was owned by the wife of Brett Furniss who was a local physiotherapist.
Socially historical as it demonstrates a general activity of domestic life in the 1950's
This item is is a very good example of its type and is in its unrestored condition providing evidence of the way it was used. These items are classified as rare amongst collectors of vintage items.
