Overview

A Biscuit Barrel consisting of two parts:
Part a; The barrel has a light apricot bottom and top rim, separated from the cream centre by a small embossed pattern that surrounds the barrel. The cream centre is decorated around the barrel in flowers in different shades of purple and green leaves. There is a EPNS collar and wavy handle attached to the collar.
Part b; A EPNS (N.N. this has been polished down to the base metal) lid with a decorative knob in the centre, surrounded by a pattern of vertical lines

Historical information

S Fielding & Co Ltd was an earthenware manufacturer at the Devon Pottery, Stoke that was founded by Simon Fielding in about 1870. It met financial difficulties early on and in 1878 or 1879 Fielding’s son Abraham joined the business, becoming the driving force behind its expansion and phenomenal later success. The company was controlled by the Fielding family until 1967 when Reginald Fielding retired and the business passed out of the family.
