Store order from Francis Ventura
1865Hand written note
Francisco Pablo Juan Ventura (1834-1927) arrived per "Ferrolana" on 30/12/1849 with the Benedictine monks. He later moved to Greenough and married Catherine Sheehy (1836-1881, widow of John Keefe a sea captain) on 7/08/1862. Ventura farmed at Greenough.
Charles Elliott (alias Carlos Lopez) was described as ‘a man of colour’ when he was convicted In England of obtaining money under false pretenses. He arrived on the "York" in 1862 (no.6579), and worked for many men in this region. He was also frequently brought before the magistrate on a wide range of charges.
