B/W Prints. (a) Jenny Shipstone's maternal grandmother, Elsie Mercer, in dark lace dress and pearls, seated at the wedding breakfast. (b) Paternal grandmother, Ida Barton, in light weight coat over dress with lace yoke, pearls, hat with veiling and flowers, and leather gloves. (c) Great grandmother, Mary Mercer, in dark jacket and light blouse. She has a corsage and is wearing a straw hat and holding her handbag and walking stick. (d) Elsie Mercer and her four daughters, Thelma, Betty, Barbara and Joan.

Historical information

Thelma Mercer was the daughter of Horrie and Elsie Mercer. Born at home in Stirling Road, then lived in the new familly home built by her parents on the corner of Princess and Doonan Roads, Claremont. On her marriage to Dudley Raymond Barton in 1949, she move into her husband's family home in 28 Vincent Street where she lived until 2012.
