1973 South Australian Claxton Shield baseball team cap

A South Australian State baseball cap from the 1973 Claxton Shield Championships. The cap is made of cotton fabric, with a red crown and red-coloured metal eyelets. There is no top button. The back of the cap is elasticised. Embroidered on the front of the crown is a yellow laurel wreath and the letters S.A. in dark blue thread, outlined with yellow thread. The dark blue visor is lined with green fabric on the underside, where the name of the cap owner has been hand-written. The stiffening inside the visor has a permanent bend. Inside the cap the cream cotton lining is badly torn and stained.
