Instructions for use from metal plate affixed: "Slip clutch; an overload slip clutch is built into the downtube spindle vee pulley. When an obstruction is encountered, pull rope to switch off motor and so prevent clutch slipping unnecessarily. Clear obstruction from handpiece, switch on motor and continue shearing. Slip clutch adjustment. If increased clutch tension is required, using two spanners, hold bottom nut and then loosen top locknut on downtube spindle. Tighten bottom nut to increase tension on string then secure with top locknut. Vee Belt: To replace Vee Belt, loosen bolts and nuts holding downtube bearing housing assembly, slide bearing housing assembly back to release belt tension then remove Vee Belt. Reverse this procedure to tension the belt. Note Special Vee Belt No. M 21 (Aust.- M20 1/2 S.Africa)."
