TOODYAY ROAD BOARD LETTERS BOOK
1907A collection of copies of outward bound letters from the Toodyay Road Board to the general community for the period 1907 - 1909.
Costs associated with received in are also notated in the front of the book.
Copying clerks were employed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to copy letters and documents. In a letter copying press a sheet of oiled paper was inserted next to a dampened piece of tissue in the copying book. An unblotted letter written in special copying ink was then inserted with its face up against the back of the tissue. The book was then put into the press and screwed down tightly for a few minutes, depending on how many copies were being made.
