Overview

Joseph Wood Langsford in dark 3 piece suit, wing collar and tie, light hat, with his thumbs in waistcoat pockets, is standing on steps at his home. His wife, Agnes Langsford, in long dark skirt and jacket, and high-crowned dark hat, with a fur around her neck, gloves in her hand and an umbrella over her arm stands on the step above him.

Historical information

Joseph Wood Langsford was born in South Australia in 1865. Justice of the Peace, Claremont. Married to Agnes Jane Langsford. Four sons (may be more). Holberry Joseph, Arthur Norwood, Claude Nerwington, and Eckersley Wood. Claremont Mayor from 1899-1901. Member of the Legislative Council from 1904-1911. He died in 1957. Former Notre Dame Street was renamed Langsford Street in 1908 for his service to the local community.
