Historical information

The inter-suburban private bus service was established in 1931 and travelled between Claremont and Perth via Victoria Avenue and Jutland Parade. It possessed the only Perth double decker bus. Norfolk pines removed from Bay View Terrace in the 1930s in an attempt to introduce double decker buses. This was unsuccessful as the ship carrying one bus was torpedoed near the Suez Canal and the other was damaged by fire in the bus depot, The depot was located at 32 Gugeri Street, Claremont behind the hotel . Buses were painted cream with a broad dark green strip containing cream writing. The conductresses' uniforms were fawn with brown piping in summer and dark brown in winter. The money bag was brown leather with shoulder strap and a pocket to hold oblong leather folder with tickets of varying denomination.
