Joseph Wood Langsford was born in South Australia in 1865. Justice of the Peace, Claremont. Married to Agnes Jane Langsford. Four sons (may be more). Holberry Joseph, Arthur Norwood, Claude Nerwington and Eckersley Wood. Claremont Mayor from 1899-1901. Member of the Legislative Council from 1904-1911. He died in 1957. Former Notre Dame Street was renamed Langsford Street in 1908 for his service to the local community.
