DRESS: AFTERNOON, BROWN VELVET
Short dress in brown velvet, shows signs of having been altered, possibly shortened. Small roll collar, centre front buttoning to waist with covered buttons. Elaborate sleeves with full smocked effect at back. Bodice to "V" at front and back waist, skirt has deeper "V" to hemline in centre front. Attached self-belt with loop trimming. Press stud fastener. Homemade. Reviewed 11/03/1999: Ruching on the shoulders, gored skirt, looped rosette on belt, balloon sleeve with ruching on seam, cuffed, synthetic bias binding.
