TOOL: SHAVE, SPOKE - WOODEN SOLE IN FRONT OF BLADE - WELL WORN
Spoke Shave: Straight stock, ends cut away underneath giving oval handles an upturned or winged appearance. The middle section has a triangular notch cut out at the back to about half the width of the sole of the stock to take the iron (blade), a wedge-shaped steel cutter mounted horizontally with 2 square tapered tangs at the ends turned up at right angles driven in to corresponding tapered holes in stock. The wooden sole in front of cutting edge is rounded.
