DRAWN THREAD, PANEL

Overview

An unfinished delicate hand embroidered panel for a sachet or baby’s pillow was made in England late 19th century by donor’s great grandmother.

From the mid 19th century, printed Women’s magazines with patterns of all the home crafts were prolific resulting in a variety of hand-made table linen, assorted accessories and ornaments for the Victorian home.

This hand embroidered panel on the finest of cotton fabric, has a delicate drawn thread band around a rectangle of fabric with the initials “CAR” worked in silk satin stitch.

The edges are unfinished, so either the panel was never made into final object or the panel with the beautiful embroidery was removed from an item to be recycled.
