Mixed Foursomes Championship (Hugh Hancock Trophy)
1970 -
The Mixed Foursomes Championship (Hugh Hancock Trophy) was originally a 36 hole stroke event up to 2007. Subsequently it has been played over 18 holes due to declining interest in the foursomes golf format and the appeal of a shorter playing period.
The event originates from a Council of Management minute dated 15/9/69 which stated 'Recommendation for a 36 hole Mixed Foursomes Championship for 1970 fixtures'.
The name of the event honours one of the club's founders, Hugh Hancock.
