Helfers Medal Shield

1981 -
The Helfers Medal Shield is named in honour of Fred Helfers, the club's inaugural Secretary Manager.

The event is an annual 18 hole nett stroke play-off where all the men’s Monthly Medal and women’s Silver Spoon winners  during the season (March to October) are invited to compete. It is played as a part of the Saturday afternoon field followed by an official presentation of the Shield.

Prior to 2017 invitations to compete in the event were only sent to the men's Monthly Medal winners. The women's Silver Spoon winners were initially invited to play during  2017 in support of the 'One Club' initiatives implemented as part of the club's 50th anniversary. After initially being ineligible to win the shield, the Match Committee amended the rules commencing with the 2024 season.
