TOY, ROCKING - KANGAROO

Overview

Rocking toy in the shape of a kangaroo. The toy is painted brown, with black painted markings on the tail and toes/fingers, as well as black painted facial features.

The base of the toy is two curved wooden runners to allow it to rock, joined together by two lengths of wood to connect the two sides.

The body of the kangaroo has a seat mounted on the back to allow users to sit on it, as well as wooden handles extending from either side of the neck.

The legs and tail of the kangaroo are connected to the base.

Historical information

Rocking toy, in the shape of a kangaroo, given to Elizabeth Bell in the early 1960's as a toy to play with. The original colour was blue & red. It was purchased by her father, Dominic 'Mimmo' Macri and was used in Karragullen on their family orchard on Canning Road.It was used by Elizabeth and her sisters Sonia and Janene as well as all of their children & grandchildren. The toy was repainted and the painted face added by Dominic in the late 1970's. Elizabeth played with the toy a lot. She also works at Kingsley Primary School and has taken the toy to the school for the children to play on.
