STOPPER, BOTTLE - PERFUME
Clear, frosted, moulded stopper for perfume bottle. The stopper is cylindrical and tapering very slightly from top to bottom. The top portion of the stopper is flattened and wider than the bottom and is designed to be able to remove the stopper from the bottle neck. This handle has a rounded top and is then tapered into the stopper cylinder.
The stopper has signs of chipping but still fits very well into the neck of the bottle.
This bottle was uncovered by Mr Peter Risk when he was developing a block on Owen Road, Kelmscott that was part of the new Kelsmcott Light Industrial Area in the early 1970s. During construction of a building, Peter uncovered an old rubbish pit from when the block was part of an orchard. The rubbish pit included numerous bottles including this perfume bottle which was possibly used by a previous owner of the land. This bottle represents the change in use of the land from an orchard where a family lived, to an industrial park that people travel too and from for work.
