GENERAL EMBROIDERY, JACKET
This lady’s silk cream jacket from 1950s is an example of post WW2 costume worn in tropical climate. Not many examples are known due to economic circumstance of the time.
The jacket is beautifully tailored, machine stitched with French seams and self - coloured machine embroidered front panels with 5 pintucks each side. Short sleeve cuffs have machine embroidered floral motif and a scalloped edge.
Two patch pockets are present at the front also having scalloped edge and floral motif. There are 3 neck darts and,
2 waist darts. Ties are set into side seams. Four polished mother of pearl buttons are centre front.
