STAMPED LINEN, DRESS CHILD
Rare to find a child’s dress pattern stamped on synthetic fabric ready to be hand embroidered and then cut out and stitched together. The design has basket of flowers on neck front, sleeves and across the base as well as 8 lines for pin-tucking on either side of neck. Printed words; ‘Child’s Frock No. 184”. Scalloped edge, machine stitched spoke stitch to enable a crochet edge.
Early to mid 20th C, post World Wars and Great Depression, commodities and supplies were scarce. Households had hand-made garments.
