Overview

Round pewter plate. Outer rim has an ornate pattern of flowers and leaves and a plain inner rim. The centre of the plate has a castle with trees either side, two coats of arms above and water below. There is text above and below the castle.

The text above the castle reads [NEUKIRCHEN-VLUYN]. The text below the castle reads: [Schloß Binemersheim].

Historical information

Former Cr Guenter Best was born in the area covered by the Stadt Neukirchen-Vluyn in Germany before moving to the City of Armadale area. In 2005 he became a coucillor for the CoA and in 2007 he went on holiday back to Stadt Neukirchen-Vluyn and brought with him a gift from the CoA to be presented to the local council. In reciprocation the local government gifted him a beaten copper plate.

Cr Best would also purchase a pewter plate as a gift for the CoA. Both were presented to the CoA at a council meeting on the 25th of February 2008.

A pewter plate depicting the castle Schlob (Schloss) Bloemersheim located in the German town of Neukirchen. The castle dates to early 1400.

The plate was purchased by former Cr Guenter Best while on holiday in the region. This plate and one gifted from the local government of Neukirchen-Vluyn were presented to the CoA.
