Overview

The original black and white photograph features members of the Subiaco Volunteer Fire Brigade in front of the Fire Station, built in 1901. This team represented 'Suby' at the Geraldton Demonstration in 1922. The men wear a uniform of white trousers (some wearing belts) and dark pullovers with 'Suby' sewn on the front. Two men are holding the handle of the mobile hose unit: small cart with large wheels, pulled along by manpower. There is a boy standing next to the hose in long trousers, belted jacket and a bow-tie showing through. The fire station - so advertised by the lamp attached to the side of the building with wrought-iron bracket - is situated on Rokeby Road, next to the Municipal Council Chambers, where Rankin Gardens is now, Two men stand in front holding a piece of apparatus. Members are L to R: W. Richardson - H. Brown - C. Scott - J. Scott - A. Arcus - J. Dunstan - F. Styles - L. Richardson - W. Eddy, --- Brown Junior.
