Image: The original black and white photograph features the Subiaco War Memorial at the centre of the crowd. The view is taken across the crowd towards the group sitting within the barricaded area around the clock. One man in military uniform addresses the crowd. The majority of the women are wearing white dresses and hats, the men wear suits and hats. The schoolboys amongst the people are identifiable by their caps. The view is north-east towards Rokeby Road. Three cars are parked along the road behind the clock. There are houses in the background surrounded by trees.
