Charles House and Gertrude Mary House
c. 1910 - 1920A set of two studio portraits. The first features an older man with white hair and full beard wearing a suit. The second features an older lady with white hair and black top. These are photographic reproductions of earlier prints. Some damage to the original prints is evident in these images.
Charles House was the son of William House and Martha Higgins. William arrived at the Swan River Colony with his brother James in 1829. In 1841 William married Martha, daughter of William and Sarah Higgins. The House family farmed in the Vasse district before settling with their eight children onto Locations 83 and 84 in Wellington, next to George Payne's mill.
Gertrude was the daughter of Thomas Twigg Wright and Maria Dawson, and granddaughter of Elijah Dawson.
Charles House passed away in 1929 aged 81 and Gertrude in 1944 aged 91.
