Overview

Silver metal plate forming the foot of a shoe, to which is attached a metal rod with holes along its length. The heel section consists of a triangular piece of metal which is attached to another rod with a locking pin mechanism. The pin can be inserted into any one of the holes along the metal rod to stretch the shoes.

Historical information

The Mansfield Shoe Company was formed in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, in the mid 1800s and operated until 2004. It produced shoes and items for the care and maintenance of footwear during that time.

In roughly the 1940s the shoe stretcher was sold or shipped overseas to Australia and used by the Bruns family on their Wungong Farm property.
