PEN, FOUNTAIN - DINKIE
Fountain pen made of bakelite. Base colour of the material is dark grey with gold and blue swirls.
Gold trim around lid, gold nib and gold piece to pull for filling ink, gold hook for attaching to pocket stamped with letter S.
Lid is screw-on.
A fountain pen was a common writing implement before the pens such as rolling ball and gel-ink became widely available.
The bakelite material became available in the early 1900s and saw wide and varied use. Sometimes used in jewellary for its colour to cookware.
