Historical information

This promotional match book was ordered by Svenart a Kelmscott based gift shop and was made by Bryant & May Advertising. It was manufactured some time in the 1980s or 1990s and was collected by Patricia Walker who at the time was both living in Kelmscott and working for the City of Armadale which had a branch library in Kelmscott not far from the store.

Svenart was started by Sheelagh Svendsen in 1973 and was originally located in the same shop as a architect business run by Wally Lenz near the corner of Albany Highway and Denny Avenue. A few years later moved to the opposite side of Albany highway in a small arcade of shops at 2784 Albany Highway.

Several years later the shop moved to Garden City Shopping Center but not long after this a second store was opened in Kelmscott at 2838 Albany Highway where it operated until the early 2000s.
