MATCHBOX, SLEAVE - PROMOTIONAL SETTLER'S RESTAURANT
c. 1980 - 1989Rectangle yellow cardboard box, open at both shorter ends. On the front is brown text [ SETTLER'S / RESTAURANT / Where the Albany / and South West Highways meet.]On the top side text [399 2109] and in very small text at left end is manufacturing information. On the back side, colour of matchbox faded with illustration of the two-storey motel with 2 pitched roofs and a balcony over a veranda across the front. Trees out the front and text in a copperplate font [Pioneer World Motel].Along the bottom edge is a brown match striking surface.
Used to promote the Settlers Restaurant, located in the Ye Old Narrogin Inne. Started around 1980 when the area was redeveloped as part of the creation of Pioneer Village.
The match book collected by Patricia Walker some time between the mid 1970s and the 1990s. Patricia lived in Kelmscott and worked at the City of Armadale during a large part of this time period and would visit the Ye Old Narrogin Inne for meals.
